Press Release-4-24-18           Gretchen Whitmer visits Cass County
Democratic candidate for governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, visited Cass County Democrats on Saturday at their headquarters in Cassopolis.  She was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd, eager to hear about her platform.  Gretchen is the most experienced of the front runners for governor, having served in the State House from 2000-2006, then the State Senate from 2006-2015.  In 2011, she was chosen Minority Leader.  She claims education and infrastructure among her top priorities and has detailed plans for both issues on her website
"I was very impressed with Gretchen" said Democratic Party chair, Cathy LaPointe.  "She is professional, warm, and totally informed about issues we care about.  I want a governor who is ready on day one, and that person is Gretchen.  She knows the legislature inside and out and can work with both sides to get things done."

All politics is local--we've heard that forever, and it's true.  A grass roots effort to change anything starts at our own back door.  Therefore, CCDP is encouraging everyone to attend their local township meetings, or if you're in Dowagiac, the council meetings.  Get informed and get involved.  Below is the list of meeting dates and times.  Introduce yourself to each other, and come to our CCDP meetings the third Tuesday of the month at 5 pm.   Hope to see you soon!  Cathy

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history.  There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things.  Among them are...Texas oil millionaires and an occasional politician or business man from other areas.  Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
